ARTIST STATEMENT

This series of work is an ongoing study; The work started during my studies at Marchutz, a small art school nestled in the heart of Aix-En-Provence, France. The works from 2015 were painted there or close by in a neighboring city or country. The philosophies that embodied the teachings at this school are attempted in the pieces below. These philosophies are shared by many great painters, including the impressionists and post-impressionists; in practice , one might create a thing that stands alone as a whole, all parts circling and beating as one body. In this series, I attempt to abandon any association or feeling. I attempt to just see. And in seeing I hope to achieve this desired whole.
